My experience

I am an English independent clarinet teacher living and working in Herent, near Leuven. I have wide experience of teaching clarinet to international students, having worked at major international schools in and around Brussels. Currently I teach at the International School of Brussels (ISB) while also maintaining a private practice.

I can teach complete beginners as well as tutor more advanced students.

I teach according to the Associated Board of Music (AB) syllabus and am familiar with the Trinity College of London syllabus. I also prepare students for the Association for Music in International Schools (AMIS) Honor Band auditions, both in Middle and High School. Alternatively I can provide a non-examination board syllabus for students who would prefer this direction.

I am able to teach using either letter name or solfège notation, depending on a student’s previous experience. I speak Dutch and a number of my private students have been Flemish-speaking Belgians. During my 30 years in Belgium I have played clarinet and bass clarinet in a number of local Dutch-speaking and French-speaking multicultural music bands.

A satisfied student

“I spent many a happy year having clarinet and saxophone lessons with Liz. Liz is a fantastic musician and her dedication to her students comes across in every lesson in a warm, caring and encouraging manner. I cannot recommend her highly enough. Playing an instrument is a journey and getting to know Liz made that already enjoyable journey so much more so.”
